The Rotary Champions Ceremony requires support beyond that of local Rotarians. Without our generous financial supporters, this program would not be possible. We give our sincere thanks to each of those supporters for making this program successful.
We also want to thank the other important people whose efforts have combined to make these young people Champions - the parents, teachers, coaches, athletic directors, and administrators. We applaud your hard work and dedication without which these young men and women would not have been able to achieve at such a high level. We wish each and every one of you continued success in your future endeavors.
The Rotary Champions program awards scholarships to outstanding scholar-athletes from high schools throughout the Pikes Peak Region. Students are nominated by their school’s athletic department based on their academic, athletic and community service accomplishments. Every year, we recognize over 150+ outstanding scholar-athletes from high schools throughout the Pikes Peak Region.
From these nominees, over 27 Medallion Winners (top nominee in their sport for all the Pikes Peak Region) are selected, one for each of the CHSAA recognized sports. The highest honor of this program is the Rotary Champion Scholar-Athlete of the Year, awarded to the top male and female nominee. Each recipient receives a $10,000 scholarship. Since the program’s founding in 1985, over $350,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
In addition, one student is chosen as the Ian Weikel "Service Above Self" award winner for their commitment to community service in the Pikes Peak Region. They receive $1,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. We also recognize a “Spirit of Champions” award winner for overcoming significant challenges and adversity throughout their high school career to become one of the best student athletes in their school.
Along with our student recognitions, we also recognize the top Athletic Director from the Pikes Peak Region who exemplifies “service above self” at their high school. Rotary Champions donates $500 to the winning AD’s athletic department.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference. You can Donate directly to the Rotary Champions Foundation, Inc. The Rotary Champions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Federal Tax ID#84-1159797.
