The Rotary Champions Ceremony requires support beyond that of local Rotarians. Without our generous financial supporters, this program would not be possible. We give our sincere thanks to each of those supporters for making this program successful.
We also want to thank the other important people whose efforts have combined to make these young people Champions - the parents, teachers, coaches, athletic directors, and administrators. We applaud your hard work and dedication without which these young men and women would not have been able to achieve at such a high level. We hope you enjoy this evening’s program, and we wish each and every one of you continued success in your future endeavors.
The Rotary Champions program awards scholarships to outstanding scholar-athletes from high schools throughout the Pikes Peak Region. Students are nominated by their schools based on their academic, athletic and community service accomplishments. Every year, recognition is given to approximately 400 outstanding scholar-athletes from high schools throughout the Pikes Peak Region. From the hundreds of nominees, twenty-five medallion winners are selected, one for each of the recognized sports. The Rotary Champion Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which includes a $10,000 college scholarship, is awarded to the top male and female nominees. Over $310,000 in scholarships have been awarded since 1985. In addition, one student is chosen as the Ian Weikel "Service Above Self" winner for their dedication to Community Service in the Pikes Peak Region. They receive $1,000 to donate to the Charity of their Choice.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference. You can Donate directly to the Rotary Champions Foundation, Inc. The Rotary Champions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Federal Tax ID#84-1159797.
